Theme and Scope

In today's world, several technological trends influenced various fields, and the agricultural sector is also included without any doubt. The smart wireless sensor network is one of the great research topics among the modest technologies seeking greater attention worldwide due to its broad range of commercial significance. Advanced sensors and sensing technologies significantly impact everyday aspects of people's lives since they can positively transform the process and manage agricultural practices, resulting in the development of precision agriculture.

Agriculture has been facing a crucial challenge in recent days to please the needs of the rising population without draining the available resources. Hence, energy-aware wireless sensor networks come into action in innovative agricultural industries. Precision agriculture is the science that employs data from various sources to facilitate agricultural production and increase environmentally friendly crop management techniques. The advancing sensor network like WSNs (Wireless Sensor Networks) and IoT (Internet of Things) implied networks play a vital role in monitoring agricultural yield, fertilizer requirements, groundwater monitoring, plant mapping, pest management, etc. sensor node of WSNs aids in monitoring the environmental conditions like humidity, rainfall, the temperature which is the significant criteria for the cultivation process in the precision agriculture-intending at better energy consumption for emerging protocols that contribute to mitigating the energy consumption of sensing technology considerably.

The incorporation of WSNs is expected to bring out substantial changes in precision agriculture, which aids in the development of disease management processes and pest control system in an agricultural field. IoT-assisted drone system permits efficient monitoring in intelligent farming, animal husbandry management, and livestock. Research envisaged that amalgamation of WSNs with other technological features is found to have numerous applications when implied for agriculture like big data analytics, cloud computing, IoT. In specific UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) and 6G wireless communication technology aids to provide more excellent benefits in the groundwater monitoring, this shows higher growth in precision agriculture. This special issue is intended to cover contributions in all aspects of cloud-centric and outsourced computing such as a Service, Categories, Network, Infrastructure, Platform, Function and software.

The special issue provides myriad opportunities for scholars and academicians to discuss the securing implementing WSNs in precision agriculture. Despite having many beneficial trends, it also holds certain limitations to be observed. Limitations indulge in technical errors, data loss, privacy threats, hacking issues, high-cost implications, and lack of technical knowledge. Researchers and practitioners are invited to present a theoretical research work against this background.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
