Synopsis

Ad hoc Networks is an active area of research in the domain of wireless networks. An ad hoc network does not rely on any pre-existing or centralized infrastructure to setup communication between nodes. The nodes self-organize themselves and setup a network in an "ad hoc" fashion to accomplish the purpose for which the network is deployed. Ad hoc networks are characteristic of several resource and operating constraints that are hitherto not prevalent in other categories of wired and wireless networks. Some of these constrains include node mobility, limited energy supply for the nodes, limited bandwidth, lack of centralized control, etc. In the past, the research community has developed specialized communication protocols (medium access control, routing, transport layer, security protocols, etc) for ad hoc networks. The purpose of this book is to bring together latest research advances in ad hoc networks and compile together the solutions that have been proposed for all the characteristic problems of ad hoc networks and their specialized variants (like mobile ad hoc networks, vehicular ad hoc networks, sensor networks and etc). We encourage authors to submit book chapters covering both theoretical and practical aspects of research in the areas of ad hoc networks and their variants.

Book Chapter Proposal

Prospective authors are invited to submit a 1-page proposal (500 to 1000 words) on any of the topics mentioned in the list of Prospective Topics below. The deadline for submitting a proposal is December 15, 2013. Acceptance notifications will be sent by December 20, 2013.

Prospective Topics of Interest

We encourage prospective authors to submit book chapters on one or more of the following topics related to ad hoc networks and their variants. Chapters on any other related topic in this area are also welcome.
1. Topology control algorithms
2. Routing protocols (unicast, multicast, broadcast, geocast, etc)
3. MAC layer protocols
4. Secure communication protocols
5. Cross-layer Design
6. Performance analysis and simulations
7. Mobility models for simulation of ad hoc networks
8. Game theory models for ad hoc network communication
9. Graph theory-based algorithms for ad hoc networks
10. Quality-of-service protocols
11. Testbeds for ad hoc networks
12. Resource allocation, Synchronization and Scheduling issues
13. Energy-efficient and power-aware communication
14. Sensor networks (including Data gathering protocols)
15. Vehicular ad hoc networks
16. Wireless local and personal area networks
17. Wireless mesh networks
18. Scalability issues and Hybrid solutions
19. Cloud computing and ad hoc networks
20. Cognitive Radio Mobile Ad hoc Networks and Solutions

Full Book Chapter

Authors whose proposals are accepted will be required to submit a complete book chapter by January 15, 2014. A book chapter is required to be 15 to 25 pages (9,500 to 12,500 words). Authors are required to submit the complete book chapter in the format posted at: http://143.132.8.23/cms/nmeghanathan/html/Nova-AdhocNetworks-CFBC.html

Target Audience

The targeted audience are senior-level undergraduates, masters and doctoral graduate students as well as faculty researchers and industrialists in various topical areas of ad hoc networks. The book is intended to bring together all the recently proposed solutions (including benchmarking algorithms) for some of the characteristic problems of ad hoc networks and their variants. The book is expected to include some chapters written in tutorial style so that the general readers can be able to easily grasp some of the ideas in these areas.
